Umesh Akki Brings Experience from UGI Corporation, Exelon, Constellation and PECO
June 26, 2023 — Ag-Grid Energy, a pioneering producer of green electricity and RNG from cow manure and food waste, has announced the appointment of Umesh Akki, Ph.D., as Chief Operating Officer.
Dr. Umesh joins Ag-Grid Energy after two decades in the energy industry, including regulated utilities, where he developed expertise in energy markets and operations, energy commodities trading and risk management. As COO, he will focus on strategies for Ag-Grid Energy’s next phase of growth.
Most recently, Dr. Umesh was Director & Head of Risk Management for UGI Corporation, responsible for development of an enterprise risk management program that included areas of governance and compliance, risk identification and mitigation, business continuity, hedging strategy and risk analysis.
For the past six years, he also has been a faculty member in Columbia University’s Enterprise Risk Management program. Dr. Umesh previously held leadership roles at Exelon, Constellation and PECO as well as investment banks including Bank of Montreal and RBS.
He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, a M.S. from Auburn University, an M.B.A. from West Chester University and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
